Abstract

Primavera is a Mexican immigrant who arrived in Durham, North Carolina nine years ago. In this interview she talks about her life in Mexico, her experience in a new country and her perspective on various topics, including family, cultural differences between the United States and Mexico, and differences between genders. She also mentions her work as a teacher and her hope of working as an accountant in the future. Primavera recounts personal experiences and that of acquaintances who have been treated unfairly in the United States due to their Latin American ethnicity. The interview ends with a discussion about the plans Primavera and her family have for the future. She hopes to be able to return to Mexico, but wants her children to have the opportunity to get educated in the country in which they were born.
